Peaches & Apples, Apples & Peaches.

This week we’re picking our Coral Star & Contender Peach variety–both are a big, yellow, freestone peach, we are also picking Blushing Star, one of our WHITE freestone peach varieties and have begun picking our Flaming Fury, yellow freestone variety. ($4.50/qt|$9.00/2 qt.|$12.50/half peck and $2.99/lb) .

Look for the peach truck in  Glasgow (Vance Outdoor Power Equipment, 402 S L Rogers Wells Blvdon Tuesdays  at 9am.  In Russellville (4th & Franklin St, across from the old hospital) on Thursdays at 12 noon.

Saturday’s will find us at The Bounty of the Barrens Farmers Market(on the Square)in Glasgow at 8am and at the SOKY Marketplace (7th Ave & Center St (Behind SKyPAC)) in Bowling Green at 8am.

We’re picking our Ginger Gold Apple, a summer eating and cooking apple with a crisp, sweet taste and our Paula Red Apple good for both apple sauce cooking and eating if you like a tart apple. Also we are finishing up our Lodi Summer Cooking Apple. The Lodi “cooks up” easily and is perfect for apple recipes that call for an apple that breaks down or mushes up such as apple sauce.

Here are a couple of our favorite apple sauce recipes: one sugar-free and one with natural sugar.

We’re also picking our Sweet Corn daily, this week’s variety is Incredible, bi-color corn. (40¢/ear | $4.75/doz)
